Interfaith Community Sanctuary

Welcome to Interfaith Community Sanctuary!

Michael Bodhi Douglas is an initiated teacher and musician in the Mevlevi Sufi tradition. As a Cherag of the Universal Worship in the Sufi Order International, he leads interfaith worship, guides spiritual practice, and teaches world religions. He is an Associate Minister at Interfaith Community Sanctuary, an icon painter, and a stonemason.

Join Cherag Michael Bodhi Douglas for a reading from his book, Following the Light: the Dance of the Elements. Michael will also share spiritual practices invoking the four elements. Date: Thursday August 4th. Time: 7:00 --9:00pm. Location: Interfaith Community Sanctuary, 1763 NW 62nd Street, Ballard. 98107.

Michael coordinates the training of interfaith ministers (Cherags) in the Universal Worship tradition. Classes are arranged whenever a minimum number of students are gathered. Those called to this ministry will see all religious activities as expressions of the same divine impulse. One year of instruction, training, practice, and study is followed by a year of ministerial practice under a mentor. Full ordination as a Cherag is then possible. If you are called to this path, please contact Michael through email: qalandarish (at) gmail (dot) com.

Michael Bodhi Douglas
and Sally Jo Gilbert de Vargas
were Called to Associate Ministry
on Sunday May 8th 2016
by Interfaith Community Sanctuary co-ministers
Imam Jamal Rahman & Reverend Karen Lindquist.

After receiving a Kwan Yin Blessing from Reverend Karen Lindquist, a certificate and an interfaith pin by Imam Jamal Rahman, Michael and Sally Jo were then draped in a veil of light ...

Michael and Sally Jo blessed the congregation by passing the veil of light over the crown chakra of each person as their first act as Associate Ministers. Imam Jamal Rahman assisted in this blessing while Rev. Karen Lindquist offered this Gnostic prayer:

O Gentle, O Kind, O Blessed Sophia,
Thy children on earth call unto Thee.
We pray Thee, Beloved Mother,
to cast forth thy net of woven starlight.
Fling it wide across the ocean of the universe
to gather us home to the realms of Light.
