Be Everyone’s Mother

A Hindu mystic was giving a talk, a portion of which was shown on a youtube. He was telling us how to be in the world, how to behave towards each other. “Be everyone’s Mother,” he said several times in his talk, “Be everyone’s Mother.” A mother sees our best and our worst and loves us unconditionally.

Being the Mother

Truly, we can change the world by realizing our connection, indeed, our Unity with all around us.

In the manner of Mary, Mother of Christ, we are called to be intercessors, to bring deep peace, healing and harmony into the world through our relationship with people in our lives. Each of us can Hear and Respond to the cries for Love.

Join us in a profound practice, using prayer and meditation, to take three courageous steps:

I see you. I love you. I am you.

During this service we will do a deep practice in which we will use a set of prayers from Hazrat Inayat Khan, a 20th century Sufi mystic who was instructed by his teacher to “take Sufism to the West”. At one stage in the practice we will experience becoming Mother, bringing love and light to a place where healing and harmony are needed.

PRAYER to MOTHER MARY
Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary,
that it is a thing unheard of,
that anyone ever had recourse to your
protection, implored your help,
or sought your intercession,
and was left forsaken.
Filled, therefore, with confidence in your
goodness, I fly to you,
O Mother, Virgin of virgins.
To you I come, before you,
I stand, a sorrowful sinner.
Despise not my poor words,
O Mother of the Word of God [cf. Quran, 4:171],
but graciously hear and grant my praye
r.

About Noor Elizabeth:
Noor Elizabeth is a guide and representative in the Inayati Order of Sufism.  She changes her name a lot, which may indicate an identity crisis.  She doesn’t really like to write about herself.  Like all beings on this incredible planet, she is like Star-Dust, one moment a Star, the next moment Dust.  She just another human trying to bring some Love, Joy and Beauty into each day.

Interfaith Community Sanctuary’s 2022 Spiritual Discernment::
Encountering the Infinite: Meeting the Divine Mother in Nature, Humanity and the Cosmos ~ a contemplative, exploratory inquiry and discovery
January – April we looked at meeting the Divine Mother in Nature
May – September we look at meeting the Divine Mother in Humanity
October – December we will look at meeting the Divine Mother in the Cosmos

July’s focus: “The Humanist Tradition”.
The human tradition has transformed our public, domestic, private and spiritual life. This is a movement of the Divine Mother in the world inasmuch as our awareness has turned to the development of health and medicine, education and development, and salvation and enlightenment.

This worship service is in-person.

OUR COVID RESPONSIBILITIES

DONATIONS INVITED
We are grateful for your generous contributions to our growing and thriving spiritual community.
We are stewards of a historic wood-framed church building built in 1890. Currently we are suffering from rain water damage resultant from the many condos erected in our neighborhood which has interfered with natural earth absorption of the rain water. Any help you can offer is welcomed.
