Dear Friends,
You are invited to join us for a special evening of celebration:
This important Islamic holy night, Lailat al Qadr, (the Night of Destiny) is the anniversary of the occasion when the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed by the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in a Meccan cave in the early morning hours of the year 610C.E. during the month of Ramadan. The exact date of this revelation is unknown, but Muslims celebrate this occasion sometime during the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
The program will begin promptly at 6:45 PM. Bahiyaa Ann Holmes Redding and Imam Jamal Rahman will share teachings about this sacred night. The program will include Islamic chanting, meditative silence, and Qur’anic recitation.
The program will end with the Call to Sunset Prayer and breaking of fast at 7:46 pm with water and dates, followed by Sunset Prayers (Maghrib) in the Sanctuary. All are welcome to prayers, Muslim or non-Muslim.
Our Community Potluck will begin after the Sunset Prayer in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring a dish to share. All are welcome, whether you are fasting or not.
