Dear Sanctuary Members:
We have postponed our annual members one day spiritual retreat because we didn’t have enough volunteers to make it happen at the end of October.
Our intention is to gather at a later date — date still to be decided.
You can read below what we planned for the postponed spiritual retreat which was intended to be held at end of summer.
Soon we will plan the next retreat.
On this occasion we reflect on our spiritual discernment for the year and feel joyous and blessed in this experience of gathering within our sacred co-created community.
If you can be of help in creating the next retreat and help with planning, hospitality, design, and getting the word out, please express your intention to the Guiding Council. The Guiding Council will meet again on the first Sunday of November 4th following the morning service.
About the fall members spiritual retreat:
In this season of Samhain (the end of summer) Sanctuary members gather for our annual Spiritual Retreat. This year’s gathering will be designed with Reverends Chris and Lila Rapcewicz and Cherag Rich Ater.
Samhain is a pagan religious festival originating from an ancient Celtic spiritual tradition. In modern times, Samhain (a Gaelic word pronounced “SAH-win”) is usually celebrated to welcome in the harvest and usher in “the dark half of the year.” Celebrants believe that the barriers between the physical world and the spirit world break down during Samhain, allowing more interaction between humans and denizens of the Other world.
On this occasion we reflect on our spiritual discernment for the year and feel joyous and blessed in this experience of gathering within our sacred co-created community.
At 9:00am a continental breakfast is available (members, please volunteer to prepare this).
At 10:00am we meet in circle in the Sanctuary and deepen with each other.
At noontime we will eat a potluck meal together.
And in the afternoon we shall deepen in dialogue and sharing from our hearts.
Please bring your ideas and suggestions for the success of this meaningful gathering by checking with Chris, Lila, and Rich about how you can help and any inspiration you may have.
For example I hope we will have a communal fire to tend!
