Energizing the Heart: through chant, poetry and meditation

Bio:

Daniel Huraksh McMannis is a Sufi, Buddhist, Hasidic mystic. Trained in Heart-Rhythm meditation through The Institute for Applied Meditation ( a Sufi order). Took refuge in the 1970s with Buddhist teacher Roshi Kennett, and he and his wife took precepts in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh.  He has been a decades long practitioner of sacred chant as taught by Rabbi Shefa Gold. With Scottish musician, Simon de Voil, recorded a CD, Heart Medicine, based on the 4 Elements. He is deeply grateful for all these diverse paths that have helped him in the healing and opening of his heart.

With the time we have together today his intention is to share the Sufi view of the “energy model of the heart” and explore how chanting, poetry and meditation can restore courage and empower our hearts to respond to the personal, political and planetary challenges of our times.
