Mantras in Motion:  Interfaith Songs and Dances for Peace

Elizabeth Dequine and friends

This event will be a fusion between kirtan singing and dances of universal peace.  The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, multicultural circle dances using sacred phrases, live music, and simple movements to touch the spiritual essence within ourselves and each other. A transformative spiritual practice, the Dances are rooted in the celebration of all the world's wisdom traditions to inspire harmony and peace. All are welcomed into the circle to hsing and old hands in an embodied prayer for peace and unity for all beings.

About Elizabeth Dequine:  Elizabeth is a dance leader and mentor and co-coordinator of the small grants program for Dances of Universal Peace International.  She is also a cherag in the Sufi Ruhaniat. She leads dances locally and internationally,  including regular dance circles, retreats and dance leader trainings in the Seattle area, Guatemala and Mexico.  Her style of leading is joyful and from the heart.  She believes that the dances are a way to dissolve barriers between people and bring appreciation and understanding of our different faiths, cultures, ages and life experiences.
